Adopted: 03/04/2010 This little doll was picked up as a stray by animal control. Nobody came for her, so now she can be yours! She is absolutely the swetest girl. She is wonderful with other dogs, kids, just everybody. She passed all temperment tests with flying colors. If you're looking for a young, energetic, sweet beagle to add to your family, she's your girl! While at the shelter, their vet discovered a balding patch behind her ear and cultured it for ringworm. If she does have ringworm, it is treatable, but contagious to humans and other animals. The culture should be complete on 1/29. Directly after picking her up from the shelter, we took her to our own vet and they did a skin scraping. They found demodex mites in that balding area. This is a form of mange, but is not contagious to animals or humans and is completely treatable. Until we know about the ringworm results, she remains in our boarding facility. **Please consider sponsoring Porsche to help us defray boarding and medical costs** UPDATE 3/1/10: Porsche has been spayed and her ear is all cleared up. She is microchipped, vaccinated and ready for a new home! This past weekend she got to go to a dog park and attend a Beagle Meetup. She was a superstar with all of the dogs and had a blast racing around in true Porsche style. This girl would be an excellent agility candidate! She's quick, agile, and loves to play. Kitchen counters, beware! This rascal can reach. We would strongly advise her adopter to enroll in a basic obedience class. She loves toys and other dogs. If she does go with a famlily with other dogs, the resident dog must love to play or she will pester. Vroooom, vroooom....Porsche is ready to park herself in you home! Are YOU ready for a ride? UPDATE: 1/29/10: HOORAY...the culture is in and Porsche does NOT have ringworm!! So, we will be treating her demodex only! PLUS, we have a wonderful foster for her now! UPDATE: 1/27/10: Porsche is still in boarding while we await the culture results. She is doing OK there, but will be thrilled to be transferred to an awaiting foster home where she can play and be held. Still looking for foster home for her!! A recent skin scraping of the balding area showed demodectic mange. This type of mange is not contagious, but does need treatment. UPDATE: 1/21/10 4:30 PM - We were able to SAVE Porsche!!! Our boarding facility will take her for the time being until the lesion on her ear clears and she is no longer contagious. Porsche will need medical treatment, spay, microchip, heartworm testing...as well as boarding expenses. If you would like to help, please donate here! |
